Loan Funds Help Madison Regional Health System Purchase Radiology Equipment

Colman, SD - Sioux Valley Energy received funding from the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Economic Development Loan and Grant Program to provide a zero percent interest loan of $300,000 to the Madison Regional Health System.  Sioux Valley Energy is a member owned-utility providing electric service to over 23,000 homes, farms, businesses and industries in a seven-county area of east-central South Dakota and southwest Minnesota.  The loan to the Madison Regional Health System was used to purchase radiology equipment for their new facility.

The Madison Regional Health System has been serving Madison and the surrounding communities for over a century.  The newly constructed 22-bed facility replaces the original hospital built in 1958.  The regional health system and its 220 employees provide quality cost-effective inpatient and outpatient healthcare services.  The radiology department averages 750 radiographic examinations monthly.  The existing radiology equipment was nearing the end of its useful life. The new equipment purchased through this loan will help the Madison Regional Health System continue to provide a core service of diagnostic imaging.  "We're grateful for the funds obtained for our project through Sioux Valley Energy.  Zero percent interest lowers our overall cost and made it possible to upgrade the equipment,” stated Tamara Miller, CEO of Madison Regional Health System.
