Business Development and Expansion

WEBSTER—Glacial Lakes Area Development (GLAD) has been awarded a $300,000 loan from Lake Region Electric Cooperative to support local business development and expansion in the Day and Marshall County area. The funds were accessed through the USDA Rural Economic Development Grant and Loan Program.

“We’re proud to have the chance to help build our rural communities by providing funds that will help create jobs and business activity in our area,” said Lake Region Electric General Manager Tim McIntyre. “Lake Region Electric is committed to growing our communities, and we’re happy to be a part of this exciting opportunity to make a difference in rural South Dakota.”

GLAD assists people and industries with their business development goals and will use these funds to enhance its current loan fund which will support economic development in the region.

“We’re very appreciative of the work Lake Region Electric did to secure this loan that will make a positive impact on the future of this area,” said Scott Amundson, executive director of GLAD. “It’s our mission to be a catalyst for the preservation and enhancement of our area through the open exchange of resources and ideas and it’s wonderful to have a partner like Lake Region Electric to help us fulfill that mission.”

Lake Region Electric Cooperative is a not-for-profit utility headquartered in Webster which provides safe, reliable and affordable electricity to approximately 3,000 member-owners in Day, Marshall and Roberts counties.
